Tab 6

My Money

Your financial picture as a safe summary, not a copy. Not full account numbers, not dollar amounts, not passwords. Just what accounts exist, where they live, who to call, and how money moves in and out. If it feels like it is missing detail, that is the point. The details live in your password manager and your actual statements. This is the map to them.

Two audiences again. Anyone who has to step in and help you with money, and you, if the person who always handled the bills is gone or unavailable. Many households have one person who tracks everything. When that person is gone, the other is often lost. This tab fixes that.

Important

Never write full account numbers, full credit card numbers, passwords, PINs, or Social Security numbers anywhere in this tab. Last four digits only.

Enough for someone to know an account exists and how to reach the institution. Never enough to log in or transact.

Important

Never write full account numbers, full credit card numbers, passwords, PINs, or Social Security numbers anywhere in this tab. Last four digits only. Every account-number field below accepts four digits and nothing more. Wherever a document location is mentioned, add it to your Vault Map in Tab 1.

Categories worth working through, skipping what does not apply:

Checking. Savings and CDs. Retirement, meaning 401(k)s and IRAs. Investment or brokerage. HSA. Credit cards. Loans, including mortgage, auto and personal.
